Research interests
Lisa Muszynski, MA (history), is a Doctoral student in the Department of Political and Economic Studies, University of Helsinki, Finland. Her interest is philosophy of historiography, as examined through the lens of historians’ and historical theorists’ attitudes / orientations. Since autumn 2011 she is using the theory of bihemisphereic brain structure defended by Iain McGilchrist (The Master and his Emissary, 2009) in a close analysis of various theorists’ and historians’ positions. Analyzing historians and theorists alike in such a light ultimately reveals previously hidden but important differences between postmodern and constructionist theories of history after the linguistic turn. The aim of the research is to offer a phenomenological alternative in discussions between working historians and theorists of history and the possibility of integration in future discussions.
