Raija-Leena Loisa’s main focus of interest within the field of political science has been on culture and the arts, particularly arts administration, arts management and media culture. The topic of her current research is the status of artists and scientific scholars in two Finnish provinces (Central Finland and South Savo). The planned research will focus on the role of literary movements as regards the development of intellectual history in Finland at the beginning of the 20th century.
