Politics of Philosophy and Gender (PPhiG)

Politics of Philosophy and Gender research team offers a site for high quality scholarly work on feminist theory, feminist political theory and lesbian & queer studies.
In its research the team focuses on conceptual contingency and politics of theory within discourses on gender and sexuality in philosophy, history and politics.
The twelve team members are senior and post-doctoral scholars, and PhD students based in different universities.
For the first three years the University of Jyväskylä Women’s Studies unit was the administrative basis and a locus for encounters and events. Since January 2009 University of Helsinki has served this function; in 2009 PPhiG was located at the Christina Institute for Women’s Studies, which in 2010 became part of the Department of Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies.
