During its first three years (2006 – 2008) the Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence in Political Thought and Conceptual Change (CoE PolCon), with its three research teams (PolTCH, PPhiG, Polarts), was located at the University Jyväskylä.
Since January 2009 CoE PolCon has been located at the University of Jyväskylä and the University of Helsinki and is funded by these two universities and the Academy of Finland for the period of 2009-2011.
On June 8, 2010 professor Tuija Pulkkinen was appointed one of the new Academy professors by the Academy of Finland, for a five-year period from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015. During her term as Academy Professor Tuija Pulkkinen will continue to explore the field of feminist theory by analysing the implications of major ontological approaches to gender theorization and feminist politics. In 2008, Tuija Pulkkinen was appointed professor of Women’s studies at the Christina Institute, University of Helsinki, and the PPhiG research team, headed by professor Pulkkinen, moved to the University of Helsinki in January 2009.
In June 2007 Kari Palonen was appointed Academy Professor by the Academy of Finland, for a new 5-year-period from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2012. His Academy Professor’s research project is The Politics of Dissensus. Parliamentarism, Rhetoric and Conceptual History.
